Malaria, a febrile parasitic illness transmitted through the bite of an infective anopheles’ mosquito. Malaria poses threats to the public health of the world, with a particular burden of disease in sub-Saharan Africa. According to the latest report, there were an estimated 241 million cases and 627, 000 deaths globally in 2020. Four species (P.falciparum, P.malariae, P.ovale, P.vivax) of Plasmodium can cause malaria in humans. Of these, the two most deadly are Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax.
The most prominent symptom of infection with this disease is fever. Others include chills, sweating, headache. If not treated promptly, malaria can rapidly progress and affect multiple organ systems and result in cerebral malaria, seizures, acute kidney injury, coma, permanent disability, and death.
Current Malaria test methods include microscopy, PCR, and the RDTs, etc. As a RDT product, its intuitive, fast, easy to interpret results.
